Teach for Knewton

Earn $100-200 per hour as a teacher for Knewton. Based in New York City’s West Village, Knewton is looking to hire exceptionally talented GMAT and LSAT instructors for part-time and full-time positions.

Part-time positions are quite flexible; because our classes reach people around the world via the internet, we run classes from the mornings through the middle of the night.

Content Developer (Math Whiz)

Knewton, an online education start-up located in New York City, is growing its team.

Position: Content Developer (Math Whiz)

Were you a mathlete? Did you (secretly) love it? Can you recite the first 7 decimal places of (1 + root 5)/2, or the first 15 digits of pi? Most important, can you find the probability that a dart lands in an equilateral triangle inscribed in a circle, rather than in the portion of the circle outside of the triangle?

If you solved that last problem in fewer than 30 seconds, and you could explain your result so clearly that an 8^th grader would understand—apply for this job.

Content Developers are responsible for the very core of Knewton's courses. This includes developing pedagogy for our courses and producing questions that gauge knowledge of core concepts—test-like questions (GMAT, GRE, SAT, ACT) seen by students in homework and practice tests. Content Developers can also serve as TAs during live classes, answering student questions via chat while the instructor teaches on camera.

Required:

Exceptional intelligence (especially math AND logical reasoning skills).

UX Designer

Knewton is looking for an User Experience Designer with a keen understanding of the internet, interactivity, design, and pedagogy.

Based in NYC's West Village, Knewton is poised to revolutionize the practice of education with the world's most powerful adaptive learning engine. Today, our revenues come from our proprietary test prep classes, but we will soon open up our platform to major education companies.

Generic blurb aside, we are a startup in every sense. We are rich in eclectic personalities and are disgustingly dedicated. Our intention is to democratize education. Yes, that is a lofty goal, but we recently closed a Series B round of funding and are expanding our team.

The candidate must have experience in:

Information architecture, wireframes, HCI, data flow, and site maps
A variety of CMS/LMSs
Strong graphic design fundamentals, and an excellent aesthetic sense for UI
Solid interaction design experience for multiple formats
Strategizing based on metrics, not just guts
Being solution oriented; turning user-testing and feedback into something productive
Rapid-UI prototyping and a solid grasp of web standards
A start-up mentality and work ethic.

Customer Expert

We are Knewton, an exciting online education start-up located in New York City’s West Village, and we want you to join our team!

Position: Customer Expert

Our business is growing and we need a full-time individual to be our go-to person for customer inquiries and service issues. This is not a cold-calling sales job, but more of a consultative interaction with potential and current students via email, phone, and chat. You must love interacting with people, enjoy a fast-paced environment with lots of challenges (see below), and be very attentive to detail. This isn’t your normal customer service position; we’re looking for someone that can grow with the company and perhaps become a manager as we scale.

Responsibilities:

Interact with our customers (students) through phone, chat and email
Consult potential students on standardized testing, admissions, and other educational topics
Liaise with our Content, Tech, and Marketing teams to provide top-notch customer care
Know all the features of the Knewton program like the back of your hand
Advocate student issues and needs
Collaborate with our Marketing team on campus marketing, online marketing, and event planning

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from a top four-year university
1-3 years of experience in: customer service, education, or sales
Experience in test prep (GMAT, LSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, etc.) a strong plus
Experience with Zendesk, Liveleader, Highrise, SalesForce and other CRM/helpdesk ticketing/chat programs a plus

The ideal candidate is eager to learn the ins-and-outs of the company and enjoys a start-up culture (long hours, high energy, lots of smart people, big opportunities, cool office). Must communicate personably and professionally. Should be comfortable chatting online, often handling multiple chats, and using technology in general. Must be neat, organized, and meticulous with records. Definitely outgoing with an upbeat attitude.
